Get your Green Day fix
By Grace Bascos
Soul searching, heartache and self-discovery can be common themes in Broadway shows, but this critically-acclaimed show also happens to have a Green Day score. The national tour of American Idiot makes a stop in Las Vegas at The Smith Center June 11-16. Based on the rock opera album of the same name, the Tony Award-winning show follows three friends in their efforts to break out of suburban ennui and define themselves in a post 9/11 existence.
You may have listened to the American Idiot album a thousand times, but when you hear songs like 21 Guns and Wake Me Up When September Ends within this emotional storyline and through the voices of this dynamic cast, it’s like hearing each song for the first time. Located just north of the Strip, the newly minted Smith Center is one of the premier places for Broadway shows in Vegas right now. $24-$190.
