Baylor Bears win against the West Virginia Mountaineers 65 to 62. Struggling early the Bears find a way to close out WV, stay relevant and keep expectations on a berth for the March Madness tournament.
Though the Mountaineers lead early and most of the first half, Baylor kept it close with a half-time score of 34 to 29. The second half the speed of Pierre Jackson and the high pick and roll kept the Bears chipping away at the WV lead and eventually they went on a 12-2 run at 55 to 50 respectively with 7:50 to play. The most poignant stat for the Bears was the superb team free throw shooting where they went 15-19 from the charity strip enabling them to hold on to their margin throughout the closing of the game.
Isaiah Austin finished with 21, Pierre Jackson with 15 and A.J. Walton had 12. The Bears never had an answer for the Mountaineers Eron Harris, who lead all scores with 25. For WV it was a loss that has little significance on this season but they’ll re-group for next year undoubtedly.
As for Baylor, are they the last 4 in? Are they the last 4 out? Nobody knows till the selection committee convenes on March 17th and tells us. And knowing what they’ll do is similar to choosing which pigeon flies off a telephone wire first, again, nobody knows. However what we do know is this, the new 4-day Holiday is upon you, all you have to do is “call it”.
