It’s a new year, which means nightclubs are hitting “shuffle” on their DJ lineups: Billboard reports that Hakkasan has scored former Wynn residents Afrojack and Above & Beyond, and ex-Marquee residents Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and W&W. Calvin Harris, Tiësto and Steve Aoki are among the returning talent at AMG’s megaclub, with Moby coming back for another one-off on February 8.
It’s not all wins for Hakkasan, though: Former resident Tommy Trash debuts January 18 at XS, which was also the site of a much-publicized set last fall by Deadmau5, who mysteriously and suddenly left AMG. Reps for Wynn and AMG didn’t respond to inquiries by press time.
After is a new Saturday afterhours party launching February 1, and its creator Thom Svast couldn’t have picked a better place for it: the TW Theater, which formerly hosted Empire Ballroom afterhours (and Club Utopia, of course). Expect a similar underground program from After, which has already secured Spacebyrdz and Black Boots as resident DJs. The venue’s other party tenant, Krave, will transition into After at 3:30 a.m.
Marquee will continue with its own afterhours experimentation February 15, with a late set from house/techno star Jamie Jones; local Brett Rubin opens. And in other news, DJ/producer Ryan Lewis—you know him as the musical partner of rapper Macklemore—plays Surrender February 1.
Remember the Kickstarter-backed CraftHaus Brewery, due to open in Henderson last fall? Owners Wyndee and Dave Forrest have been busy lobbying for a “more modern and business friendly” license for non-gaming brewpubs. CraftHaus is now due to open spring 2014.
