No.5 Florida was upset by an unranked Missouri Tigers team 60 to 63. The Gators athletic quickness didn’t allow them to run away from the Tigers as Mizzou kept things close and eventually put themselves in contention for the win in the closing minutes. It wasn’t pretty, but very steady and effective.
Florida on the other hand gave away an easy victory which looked like business as usual in the first 10 minutes of play.
By half-time Florida lead 29 to 26 but the Tigers had climbed back from an eight point deficit. In the second half, Florida was simply out hustled, shot 22-54 from the field (40%) and then only 6-12 from the charity strip (50%) which means that you should probably lose more often than not with that recipe. Top scorers included Mike Rosario with 14, Kenny Boynton with 11 and Michael Frazier with 10. Laurence Bowers for the Tigers lead all scores with 17.
The Gators always surprise down the stretch under Coach Donavan but they won’t be able to take off a night and look past any of the competition in the future. Next up is the conference rival Arkansas Razorbacks on February 23rd.
